Next up on our Talking Straight series is the lovely Miss Lilly. The face & brains behind the boutique fashion store, cherished by Allambie Heights locals & beyond with her website & her very own Miss Lilly label, Lilly shares with us her morning ritual, personal mantra & pantry staples (cheese & wine, duh!).
Let's get into it!
What does your morning routine look like?
I try & get out to do some exercise in the mornings, before coming home to get the kids (& myself!) ready for the day ahead. At the moment I am enjoying staying away from the caffeine & drinking fresh celery juice, followed by a smoothie.
What’s one healthy habit you prioritised / embraced during lockdown that you’ll continue as we start to return to normality?
During lock down we enjoyed coming together as a family. With all the extra curricular activities we had cancelled, we made time to go for family walks & cook together. Old habits creep back in as the diary starts to fill up but going for a family stroll/hike is something we really cherish. Getting away from all the screens is a great way for conversation to flow.
What are five things you’ll always have in your fridge / pantry?
Wow …. This doesn’t look very nutritious but it's honest!
Cheese
White wine
Humous
Pasta
Apples
What’s your favourite form of movement?
Either a pump class or a cross-fit style class. After having my appendix out a few weeks ago, I was forced to have 6 weeks off the gym. I can’t wait to get back as I can already feel I am loosing muscle tone.
What’s the first destination you’d like to visit once we’re allowed to travel again?
Morocco! I had planned to visit this year to celebrate my 40th Birthday. Sadly I have to wait!
What is one fun fact most people wouldn’t know about you?
I love the beach but I'm petrified of waves. I will only go in further than my ankles in the harbour where there are no waves whatsoever.
Why is it important to you to be Straight Up & authentic? Have you ever struggled in the past with being your true self?
It is easy to watch others on the world of social media & compare yourself & level of success. I decided a while ago to start living by the mantra “no one is you, that is your super power”. It was only when I started to live & breath this in my business that the magic started to happen.
The health industry is constantly adapting to external circumstances. What’s one health trend you predict will remain or appear in 2021?
I think gut health is going to continue to be a massive subject over the next few years. Acting like our second brain, we are really only just learning about the massive health implications that the gut has on our overall health.
