The health and wellbeing industry is full of some pretty amazing people and we're excited to have had the opportunity to chat with our dear friend Hannah Singleton for our 'Talking Straight' series.

Hannah is the Co-Founder of Healthy Luxe, an online platform for all things health, food, and travel alongside her mother, Naturopath and Nutritionist, Jenn Murrant. In just 5 years, Healthy Luxe has accumulated over 100,000 followers on Instagram, they've worked with numerous leading brands in the health, fitness and travel industry and have recently released an app to house and share some of their amazing recipes. Here's Hannah.

SUPR: What does your morning routine look like?

HS: I usually wake up around 6.30 am to go to a barre class at Xtend Barre just around the corner from my apartment. This is religiously followed by an oat milk coffee and a walk whilst listening to a podcast. I love Mamamia's ‘the quicky’ to get me up to speed with the latest news headlines. I then come home to make a big bowl of acai before getting stuck into work for the day.

SUPR: What does ‘health’ mean to you?

HS: To me being healthy involves eating foods that I love that also nourish my body, incorporating some kind of movement into every day even if that is just a 30 minute walk, making time to spend with friends and family as regularly as possible and simply making time to do things each day that bring me joy. I also think it is important not to be obsessive when it comes to health, whether that is indulging in your favourite not-so-healthy foods from time to time, skipping your workout when you need the sleep or whatever it may be. I just came home from a week in France which consisted of daily croissants for breakfast, so I am definitely one for ‘balance’!

SUPR: What are five things you’ll always have in your fridge/pantry?

HS: My pantry is always full of jars of raw nuts such as almonds/cashews/macadamias so that I can always make nut meal/nut milk etc as required. Other staples include avocados, organic eggs, coconut or Greek yoghurt and peanut butter.

SUPR: What’s your favourite form of movement?

HS: Barre classes, yoga, pilates and walking. I aim to do a Barre, Pilates or yoga class 3-4 times per week and always try to reach my 10k steps!

SUPR: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

HS: I do love Sydney and feel very lucky to live here. I’m a big beachgoer so it is a pretty ideal location for me. At some point I would love to live overseas, I love the idea of living in France as I have studied the language for years and would love to become fluent.

SUPR: What is one fun fact most people wouldn’t know about you?

HS: I have 7 siblings.

SUPR: Why is it important to you to be Straight Up and authentic? Have you ever struggled in the past with being your true self?

HS: Being authentic is something that is really important in both work and in personal lives. In terms of Healthy Luxe, our site grew from a genuine passion for health and wellness, which of course includes delicious and nourishing food.

Our aim is to encourage and empower people to make choices that are right for them, in an achievable way, whether that be through improving nutrition, hydration, finding a style of exercise that is enjoyable or establishing a self-care/ mindfulness routine. In terms of maintaining authenticity, we've always been strict about our criteria for brand partnerships in that we genuinely endorse products we promote, whether we are paid or not, which was our objective from the outset.

SUPR: The health industry isn’t perfect. If you had the power to change one thing about it, what would it be and why?

HS: In general, there have been some very positive shifts in people's awareness of the impact of diet, lifestyle and community on our overall wellbeing. However, this education, as well as ability to purchase good quality products, is not available to everyone, so if there was one thing to change it would be this, perhaps by increasing awareness and involvement in schools from a young age, as well government subsidies for good quality, ethical and sustainable products.
